What’s in a Name?

Once I decided I wanted to write a blog, the next big question was what to call it. I wanted something cool and funky and unusual but not so strange as to have people scratching their heads. So I started writing down a number of ideas on a piece of paper, thinking I was such a clever girl. But then when I tried to sign up to WordPress to create my very first website, every domain name I typed it was returned with a “this domain name is not available”! Seriously?! So in the end I came up with a dreary name – libragirlrules…because my star sign is Libra and I’m a girl and well, I’m setting my own rules in this blog. Original or what? Ha!

Where you Tweet, I will Follow

“So what do you say on Twitter?” I’ve been asked this question a lot lately.  Or, how about this one: “Why do you twitter?”.

And so it begins…

It was not that long ago that, despite the rapid growth proving the contrary, I thought social networking was for overly egotistical people and Gen Y’ers who felt the world were dying to hear about their every move.  Facebook status updates? Who cares about you buying a farm (albeit just a virtual one) or receiving a virtual gift on your birthday?  Then along came Twitter…omg…I thought that would be worse.  You get 140 spaces to share your thoughts with the world. But who would want to read about what you had for lunch, what bathroom supplies you’ve run out of, when your dentist appointment is or that your bowel movements were regular (or not, as may be the case!)?
